FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 24, 2025) – ArtServe, Broward County’s leading arts incubator, has been honored as the Arts Organization of the Year at the 211 Broward 14th Annual Community Care Plan Nonprofit Awards. This annual prestigious event honors the exceptional achievements, innovation and dedication of nonprofit organizations and leaders throughout Broward County.
ArtServe’s win highlights the organization’s profound impact on the local arts community through its commitment to empowering artists, fostering cultural development and ensuring arts programming remains accessible to all. As the recipient of this award, ArtServe received a $1,000 grant to further support its mission of enhancing the cultural landscape of South Florida.
“For more than 30 years, ArtServe has been a place where artists of all backgrounds can thrive,” said ArtServe CEO Jason Hughes. “This recognition affirms our ongoing efforts to provide opportunities, promote inclusion and ensure the arts remain a vital force for community engagement and economic growth. We are honored to be recognized by 211 Broward and to stand alongside so many incredible organizations working to make a difference.”
Dedicated to empowering artists, ArtServe provides affordable studio spaces, professional development workshops and promotional support. By partnering with local businesses and institutions, such as the W Fort Lauderdale and Holy Cross Hospital, ArtServe helps to bring art into public spaces while supporting artists’ careers. ArtServe also collaborates with organizations like Schott Community and Dillard High School, ensuring underserved populations have opportunities to showcase and sell their work, with proceeds going directly to the artists. Free gallery access, receptions and workshops are offered to make art accessible to all.
ArtServe’s commitment to inclusivity and innovation has set the organization apart, using the arts as a means for social change. Initiatives like hosting town halls for marginalized groups and exhibitions such as “Voices from the Street,” amplify important community perspectives, including those of Broward’s unhoused population.
“We embody the incredible power of the arts to unite communities and drive meaningful social impact,” said Molly Wilson, president of the ArtServe board of trustees. “This honor is a testament to the dedication of our team, artists and partners who share in our vision for a vibrant and inclusive cultural ecosystem.”
