Where To Celebrate Women’s History In Broward County

Where To Celebrate Women’s History In Broward County

For nearly 40 years, March has been the month to honor women’s achievements and contributions with the designation nationally of Women’s History Month. Each year, The National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA) sets a theme for the year’s Women’s History Month and this year’s theme, “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations” centers on educating, inspiring, and advocating for a more inclusive future.
Taking this theme forward, Broward celebrates women leaders and empowers new generations of women with a series of special events throughout the county. Attend family-focused community events, exhibitions, performances, or educational presentations, or find inspiration and support with women-focused panels and conferences.

“Making an Impression: Women Join the Impressionism Revolution” – NSU Art Museum Lecture Series at Beach Branch Library

“Making an Impressio,” focuses on Impressionism and the work of women artists to the Impressionist movement. Launched in France in the 1870s, the Impressionist movement aimed to capture modern, everyday life with a style that emphasized loose brushstrokes to create an “impression” of the subject. At a time when women were still fighting for the right to vote, women Impressionists had to fight harder for recognition and respect as an artist. “Making an Impression” explores the contributions of six women artists to Impressionism, highlighting the key role women artists played in this 19th century artistic movement.

The lecture takes place Friday, March 28 at Beach Branch Library.
