With the holiday season now in full swing, there are a number of fun seasonal events to join in on happening through the entire month of December. These are just a few activities and workshops in Broward to get everyone in the holiday spirit and maybe even walk away with a unique gift for yourself or a loved one.
Ornament Painting
Anyone can buy holiday ornaments to decorate their tree, but there’s nothing quite like making your own handmade ornaments. That’s why Studio 18 Art Complex invites people to get creative at its ornament painting workshop on Friday, Dec. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. Guests can pick from a selection of pre-made ceramic ornaments and learn techniques from Studio 18 resident artist Jose Pita Vazquez on how to paint and glaze. Using these techniques, they can then design their own uniquely decorated holiday-themed ornament. While decorating, guests can also enjoy an assortment of holiday treats as well as create a holiday card at the card creation station. 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13. Tickets are $20, nonrefundable, registration required. Studio 18 Art Complex, 1101 Poinciana Drive, Pembroke Pines. (954) 961-6067 or ppines.com.

Holiday Terrarium Workshop

Art isn’t limited to painting or photography, which is why THRIVE Art District invites guests to come out and participate in its hands-on Holiday Terrarium Workshop taking place on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. At the workshop, participants can get their hands dirty while tapping into their creative side by designing their own miniature indoor garden. Each budding artist will be given a variety of plants and holiday-themed miniatures, rocks, sands, gems, and other natural elements to choose from to bring their holiday terrarium to life. A terrarium vessel, tools, and other materials will also be provided. So, whether you’re a plant enthusiast or just want to tap into your inner artist while creating a unique holiday gift, this workshop is designed to get you in the holiday spirit. 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14. Tickets are $60. THRIVE Art District, 710 NW 5th Ave., Fort Lauderdale. (786) 878-9600 or eventbrite.com.
