Immersive art installation with projected blue-and-yellow macaws, digital imagery, and a fragmented sky.

+58212: Sky is Buffering is an immersive installation by Venezuelan-American artist Ileana Rincón-Cañas, inspired by the blue-and-yellow macaws that have lived freely in Caracas since the late 1970s. Their adaptation to an urban environment becomes a metaphor for migration, resilience, and the search for belonging.
Through a fragmented sky of birds, glitches, urban traces, and digital imagery, the installation moves between memory and displacement. Caracas appears not as a documentary landscape, but as a psychological space where familiar places dissolve and reassemble, reflecting how identity is continuously reshaped by distance, absence, and change.
The title combines +58, Venezuela’s international country code, with 212, Caracas’ area code, evoking a place carried across distance through memory and connection.
As part of the project, Rincón-Cañas collaborated with The House Project and MAD Arts on a limited edition of 58 numbered prints, priced at $58 each. 100% of the proceeds support relief efforts for communities affected by the double earthquake in La Guaira, Venezuela.
The installation was made possible through the Broward County Cultural Division’s Artist Support Grant.
