Theater Technician Specialist

The Theater Technician Specialist is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of theatre productions, ensuring the highest standards of performance, safety, and efficiency. This role offers a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the success of the Cultural Affairs Department events and theatre productions, ensuring high-quality technical execution and fostering a collaborative creative environment. This role demands a strong background in lighting design and the ability to coordinate audio technicians effectively. This role will have technical oversight at all Cultural Affairs Department venues. Supervise all technical operations, including lighting, sound, and stage management. Develop and implement technical schedules and production plans. Collaborate with directors, designers, and production staff to meet artistic and technical requirements. Design and implement lighting plans for theatre productions. Operate and maintain lighting equipment to meet production needs and safety standards. Create lighting plots, cue sheets, and other related documentation. Oversee audio technicians, ensuring sound design and implementation meet production standards. Coordinate the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve any audio issues during rehearsals and performances. Recruit, train, and manage technical staff, including lighting and audio technicians. Schedule and oversee technical rehearsals, ensuring all staff are prepared and informed. Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment. Ensure all technical equipment and operations comply with safety regulations and best practices. Conduct regular maintenance and safety checks on all technical equipment. Develop and implement emergency procedures for technical aspects of productions. Manage technical budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Source and procure technical equipment and materials as needed. Maintain inventory of technical supplies and equipment. Provide on-site technical support during rehearsals and performances. Collaborate with production teams to solve technical challenges. Ensure timely and effective communication with all departments.
