My journey with tango began with 13 years of age in my neighborhood in Montevideo. As a tango dancer, instructor, singer and community organizer, I have spent over 25 years using this dance as a medium for social transformation. My work is rooted in the belief that tango is a transformative force—capable of sparking social change, activating spaces, and fostering cultural dialogue.

Tango, with its intimate embrace and improvisational nature, transcends language and cultural barriers, creating a shared experience that fosters empathy and understanding. It is a dance of inclusion, respect, and personal growth—a tool for uniting people, building communities, and nurturing a sense of belonging.

In a fragmented society that often excludes those who don’t meet certain standards, I strive to create spaces where everyone is welcome. My latest project challenges traditional gender roles in tango, inviting individuals to step into any role they choose, regardless of traditional norms. Through my work, I aim to redefine tango as a space of liberation—where individuals of all genders, backgrounds, and abilities can come together to dance, connect, and grow.
