One of the most intriguing and delightful aspects of a musical show is its ability to open up a whole new world to both its audience and cast The show that does this better than any other is BRIGADOON This is a Scottish fantasy about a town that disappears into the Highland mist and returns for only one day every one hundred years It includes Waitin' for My Dearie, I'll Go Home with Bonnie Jean, Come to Me, Almost Like Being in Love, There But for You Go I, The Heather on the Hill and My Mother's Weddin' Day This is a tribute to simplicity, true love and goodness, which is hidden from the ordinary traveler

The 12 begins where Jesus Christ Superstar leaves off and never let's go! It a high powered rock and roll concert that takes one of the least known aspects of one of the greatest historical events: how twelve ordinary individuals, torn apart by the unthinkable death of their leader, came together to create one of the most powerful movements ever known to mankind

From the creator of the hit show "100 Years of Broadway" and the composer of "Grumpy Old Men," composer and lyricist Neil Berg has created this brand new, high energy, rock concert event, pairing each of the twelve apostles with a different, well-known, classic rock style Eighteen original songs pay glorious tribute to such icons as David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, U2, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin

Featuring a live band and cast of Broadway stars and rock and roll performers including Rob Evan (Phantom of the Opera, Jekyll and Hyde), Danny Zolli (Jesus Christ Superstar), Lawrence Clayton (Jesus Christ Superstar, Dreamgirls, The Civil War), Patti Russo (the band "Meatloaf") and others along with a powerful story written by Pulitzer Prize playwright and author, Robert Schenkkan This rockin' in the aisles show is a must-see for all fans of classic rock music

Since 1994, when Nicholas Payton made his recording debut as a leader with From This Moment, the trumpeter has been lauded as a significant, top-tier voice in jazz Even though he started out as a “young lion,” heralded as one of the new-generation guardians of the hard bop flame, Payton consistently committed himself to discovering his voice outside of the strict confines of that rearview mirror approach to the music It was early on that curve that he performed for South Florida JAZZ in 1998 and again in 2001, dazzling the audiences with his pure tone and soul

There's nothing like a good French pastry Doesn't matter if you find it in Paris - or in Fort Lauderdale These folks know how to bake sweets the right way Lately I've been making a semi-habit of going to one of the best French bakeries in South Florida Croissan'Time is a delightful shop in a strip mall, though it can be a little hard to find at first But really, it is definitely worth the effort Owned by Bernard Casse, Croissan'Time has been baking up luscious croissants, Danish, turnovers, beignets and more since 1986 For some reason, I had stopped here only on rare occasions in the past, often to buy a special treat for Easter or Thanksgiving No more It has joined a short list of my favorite morning stops these days

Monsieur Casse has been doing this a while A long while, actually He's been a French baker and pastry chef for 43 years If you want a treat, drop by for a breakfast of a beignet and their wonderful coffee Mmm, it's most excellent

And if you do your dropping by on a Sunday, there's an extra treat waiting Croissan'Time has a live jazz band playing in front of the store on late Sunday mornings, a decent little trio with an unusually interesting drummer This place is a lot more than a coffee shop People come here and line up for boxes of cakes, pies and other pastries But there's also a whole lunch menu From quiches to salads, from brie to pate on a baguette, Croissan'Time offers many choices They even sell French butter, Madrange cooked French ham and game meats such as quail, partridge and venison Interesting restaurant, this In addition to the tasty food, Croissan'Time has transformed the sidewalk exterior into a surprisingly pleasant space, covered in climbing foliage and frequented by sparrows that chirp and wing energetically around To find Croissan'Time, head south on Federal Highway and look for it on the right side of the road just before Sunrise Boulevard Their address is 1201 N Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale The phone number is 954-565-8555 You won't see the Arc de Triomphe from their outdoor tables, obviously - but when you're tasting one of their beignets, it's easy enough to imagine
